He became well-known as a designer of private homes and public buildings. Biography After education at Copenhagen's Technical School (Danmarks Tekniske Skole) and working as a mason, Jensen began to study architecture under Harald Thaulow in 1902. In the next year, he was awarded a scholarship from the Danish Building Association to study under Henry Appel at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. He was an adjunct of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts from 1908 to 1916, before establishing his own practice. Jensen created a modern style of architecture. His style was characterized by a strong use of clean, undecorated lines and strong materials such as stone. Typical of his work is the small country house Negevælde (1919), which was initially praised, but later badly damaged during an attack by fire. He was also active as a designer of furniture, particularly for wood. His work included chairs, stools and tables for museums such as the Amalienborg Museum. Public buildings Among Jensen's public buildings are Denmark's first public swimming pool (1912) and the Danish War Museum (1921-1922). He was part of the team responsible for the latter building, which today houses the Danish Museum of War, Peace and Women's Rights.
